CELEBRATIONS AND SOCIALIZING IN THE GREEN
The furniture we today call "traditional garden furniture"—wooden pieces with slats running both horizontally and vertically, often painted white—spread to the new summer villas in the archipelago and later to rural parsonages and farms at the end of the 19th century. We recognize them from black-and-white photographs where families sit, well-dressed and upright, in the shade.

Around the turn of the century, nature was celebrated, and the new types of garden furniture were recommended in contemporary magazines. Garden furniture became an integral part of social life. The models created at that time were rooted in genuine craftsmanship and made from the finest pine timber. A hundred years ago, these slatted garden furniture pieces could be seen in nearly every garden.

Carlshaga's newly crafted garden furniture is based on a design found at our founder Eva Hermansson’s turn-of-the-century farm in Töreboda when she moved in. The table, bench, and chairs feature stunningly beautiful lines, generous dimensions, and an overall robust and highly durable construction.
