Project: Sustainable Furniture Manufacturing

The project is co-financed by the Rural Development Fund and Leader Nordvästra Skaraborg.

Purpose of the Project:

Develop a communication strategy and a labeling method for traceable timber grown and processed in Skaraborg.
Increase consumer awareness of the environmental benefits of using local timber in furniture manufacturing and other wood-based production.

We see clear environmental benefits in reduced transportation through a local manufacturing chain. We also see environmental advantages in creating economic incentives for more diversified forestry practices, promoting greater biodiversity and encouraging more businesses to rely on local timber processing.

There are good reasons to promote Skaraborg as a furniture region, preserving a legacy of expertise in the wood industry and influencing forestry practices to achieve sustainable production with high-quality raw materials for premium furniture. Encouraging forestry to transition to timber better suited for furniture production, rather than the predominantly planted spruce, is key.

Skaraborg has a rich history of high-quality furniture manufacturing, which needs to be highlighted again. Many manufacturers have shifted their production focus from furniture to shop and hotel interiors. Bringing production back from other countries to create quality furniture locally is a resource for society that is socially, environmentally, and sustainably valuable.

Many would benefit from this project by raising awareness of how vulnerable we are in today’s society during various crises, as it has been challenging to source materials and products from other countries.

Local Origins:
Sourcing all our timber from local suppliers is an important part of our mission. Every log reaching the sawmill has its history rooted in certified forest areas where sustainable forestry is prioritized to maintain nature's balance. By choosing our products, you support local employment and community.
